Luka Chuppi has managed to gross about 17.5 crores in 2 days, according to Box Office India.
This Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan starrer has held steady so far and might show a total of 30 crores worth of an opening weekend.
Luka Chuppi, produced by Maddock Films, is the story of Guddu Shukla (Kartik Aaryan) and Rashmi Trivedi (Kriti Sanon). Set in the small town of Mathura, this young couple wants to be in a live-in relationship before they actually decide to get married. A comedy of errors ensues and they end up actually having to live together, without really being a married couple.
Luka Chuppi tells a small but sweet story of this young couple which may appeal to the young-adult audiences. There are many elements in the film (a catchy soundtrack, laughable punchlines) that make it an enjoyable watch.
Director Laxman Utekar's view of modern day relationship touches upon various important taboos and subtly touches upon these issues without taking itself too seriously. This is Kartik Aaryan's first film after his massive hit Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety which was a thundering box office success.
For Kriti Sanon, this is her first film since Bareilly Ki Barfi, another romantic comedy set in a small town. While Bareilly Ki Barfi did modest box office collections, it got a lot of good reviews from the critics and Kriti's performance was also praised.
Perhaps it is the era of small, niche, off-beat romantic comedies that seem to strike a chord with the masses. A lot of similar films have been taken on by Bollywood and have managed to garner good business at the Box Office.
