Salman Khan's production LoveYatri has been yanked off screens from a lot of cinema halls despite strong backing from a host of stars. Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain's LoveYatri, which hit the screens this Friday, has garnered Rs. 7.75 crore so far, Box Office India report stated.
On Day 4 (Monday), the Abhiraj Minawala-directed film has raked in Rs. 1 crore. Aayush Sharma's LoveYatri, which started its box office journey on a "poor" note, is expected to collect "a little over" Rs. 10 crore in the first week. "LoveYatri dropped nearly 50% on Monday after a low weekend and the week looks like going to a little over Rs. 10 crore (nett). The film has not worked at the box office," a Box Office India report stated.
Salman Khan launched his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma opposite newcomer Warina Hussain in the film. A close friend of the Khan revealed to The Free Press Journal, “Salman wasn’t keen on launching his brother-in-law. But what to do? But he won’t deny his baby sister Arpita anything, even if it meant launching her husband as an actor.” Salman himself went all out promoting the film which got quite a bit of attention because of some controversies associated with its name.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood film Venom featuring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, hit the screens with LoveYatri and AndhaDhun. Tom Hardy's film is doing a "fair" business at the box office and has collected Rs. 18 crore so far. "Venom is doing fair business as it collected Rs. 2.50 crore (nett) on Monday. The drop is around 40% from day one which is decent. It has collected Rs. 18 crore (nett) so far and should finish the week at over Rs. 24-25 crore (nett)," the Box Office India report stated.
The biggest gainer appears to be Ayushmann Khurrana’s Andhadhun which is going from strength to strength. The failure of LoveYatri which released alongside it, has boosted the thriller’s collections even further. The second Saturday growth of the film was recorded to be around 75 per cent. The film hit the 40 crore mark at the end of the second weekend.
