One of the most iconic comedy franchises, Hera Pheri starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, directed by Priyadarshan, is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood. The movie was stalled after the sudden death of Neeraj Vora on 14 December 2017. Neeraj had directed the second part that was released in 2006 and had also been the screenplay writer in the first Hera Pheri. He had been in coma for more than two years after he fell ill on the sets. However, he had locked the script in 2014.
Incidentally, Phir Hera Pheri, the sequel to Hera Pheri with the same cast, didn’t get as much box office love as expected. However that has not affected the interest in the series as fans still fondly remember the comedy and the iconic sequences of Hera Pheri. So the news that Hera Pheri 3 is being made is sure to thrill them. It has also been confirmed now that the original trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal will all return in the next sequel.
Mumbai Mirror has quoted a source close to the film’s production saying, “The project was locked last month after the three actors gave their dates. It will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule between December 2018 and February 2019 and will release in the second half of next year.”
As per the report, Indra Kumar (Masti, Dhamaal) is going to be the director of the new film. He even tweeted the news as a confirmation.
