Lata Mangeshkar: Director Madhur Bhandarkar Visits Legendary Singer in Mumbai Hospital
Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar has been receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital since last week for viral chest congestion.
Lata Mangeshkar -- who is popularly known as the Nightingale of India -- was hospitalised last week following some breathing problems. On 11th November, she was rushed to the intensive care unit of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where she was reportedly diagnosed with pneumonia and viral chest congestion. The legendary singer has been receiving treatment at the hospital since then. Recently, National Award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar -- who has helmed critically acclaimed films like Chandni Bar (2001) and Fashion (2008) -- visited Lata in hospital. Following his visit on Tuesday, he took to social media to share an update about the singer’s health.
Sharing her photo on Instagram, he wrote, “Visited the Hospital to see @lata_mangeshkar didi glad to inform that she is stable and responding positively to the treatment. Thanks everyone for countless blessings & prayers for her speedy recovery.”

Fans of the veteran singer were relieved to hear about her recovery and shared wishes for her good health. One Instagram user wrote, “God bless this legend with more healthy years.”

Earlier, Lata’s sister, singer Asha Bhosle was also photographed visiting her at the hospital. Lata’s spokesperson has informed news agency IANS that the 90-year-old singer is “much better” but has not disclosed any other details of her medical condition. As per another news report, she is still in the ICU and her family will take her home once the doctors think she has recovered sufficiently.
A tweet on Lata Mangeshkar's official account was also posted a few days ago, which said, "Lata didi is stable and recovering. We thank each one of you for your concern, care and prayers." Her family has also previously released a statement, which said, “Being a singer, her lung capacity has pulled her through. Truly a fighter. We will update everyone when Lataji gets discharged and comes home."
