“By creating a character like Hyun-ju and through her choices, her actions, and the way she carries herself in the game, I hope that that could raise awareness of these issues that we face today,” Hwang told Decider.

The creator added, “Today, unfortunately, in South Korean society, the gender minority is a group that is not as accepted widely. That’s why I created the character of Hyun-ju, a male-to-female transgender woman.”

Luck vs Squid Game

Remember the Bollywood movie Luck that came out in 2009? The director of that film Soham Shah, me delegation that squid game was a copy of his movie. But it seems even Luck was a copy.

A source told Hindustan Times, “ When Soham was making the movie, he mentioned to the team that he had referenced the French film 13 Tzameti (2005). It’s not like this kind of story hadn’t been made before.”

The source added, “Many scenes in Luck also drew ‘inspiration’ from other films. In fact, when the movie was released, there were rumours about it being a copy of the 2007 action movie The Condemned, which Shah had denied at the time. I’m not sure what Soham expects to gain from suing Netflix.”
