In response to the recent controversy generated by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar while on a television show with women rights activist and journalist Marvi Sirmed, Mahira Khan came forward with her stance. In her tweet, Mahira Khan said, ‘ I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking! #khalilurrehmanqamar.'

Here Mahira Khan also had something to say for those standing up for their rights. She said,

‘I personally think it’s imperative that those that stand with the idea of standing up for your rights should write and speak with clarity. A lot gets lost when we try to match jahaaalat with jahaalat, abuse with abuse. There MUST be a difference.’

Prominent filmmaker and director Nabeel Qureshi had something to add too.

Khalill ur Rehman Qamar has been receiving flak widely for his inappropriate language on the live television show. Many journalists and actors in the industry have come out to publicly condemn the language he has used.

The host of the show has also issued a statement.

However, this is not the first time Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has become a part of such controversy.
