Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh’s Kedarnath had to face a lot of hurdles before it made to the theatres. From unending delays to court cases, the film had to suffer a lot. However, once it released, the reviews were by and large positive. Sara Ali Khan, in particular, came in for a lot of appreciation for her role.
Box-office wise, it looks like the film will be a safe bet. On the opening day, Friday (In India), Kedarnath managed good collections in the INR 7-7.25 range. This was despite tough competition posed by Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2:0. Fortunately, the collections improved on Saturday. According to trade website, Boxoffice India, the collections showed a jump of INR 9.75 crores, which is around 35 per cent more on day 2. The two day collection now stands at a healthy INR 17 crore nett.
The next big test will be Monday when collections generally drop but experts estimate that the drop won’t be huge. In terms of opening, the film is almost at part with Raazi and Badhaai Ho, two big hits of 2018. Can Kedarnath match up their collections? It remains to be seen.
