Karan Johar to Make Changes to Takht Script, post Kalank debacle?
Karan Johar is reportedly going to make changes to Takht's script after the box office failure of Kalank
Kalank was one of the highly awaited films of 2018 which had a stellar starcast comprising on Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Kunal Kemmu. All the starcast have proved their worth as actors and hence when the movie hit the screens people were shocked to see it being marred by shoddy dialogues and direction. Abhishek Varman, who previously directed the Dharma film 2 States, helmed Kalank, but the movie was panned by audiences and critics alike. A love story set in the pre-Independence and pre India-Pakistan partition era, the film failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office. Filmmaker Karan Johar has learned his lesson the hard way and doesn't want anything to go wrong with his next period drama and multistarrer, Takht.
According to a report in CineBlitz, “Kalank’s shortcomings have been identified and Karan Johar is working double hard to make Takht a massive hit. He is going to make it simpler, in terms of dialogues and actions. Some people could not resonate with a complex writing and he wants the film to resonate with the audience, like Jodha Akbar did. So, he might use the same formula for the dialogues of the movie.” It is also being rumoured that KJO is planning to add some twists to the plot so that it doesn't look redundant.
Like Kalank, Takht also has a stellar starcast. Takht, which means throne will see Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Jahnvi Kapoor in lead roles. The movie is set in the Mughal era and is based on the Sultanate of Aurangbzeb. Ranveer Singh is touted to play Shahjahan's eldest son, Dara Shikoh, while Kareena Kapoor Khan will be playing his sister, Jahanumara Khan. It was previously rumoured that Bebo has been cast opposite Ranveer, but sources close to the movie said that it is Bhumi Pednekar, who will get to romance the Gully Boy actor. The movie will indeed be an interesting watch as we know how Ranveer Singh slays in historical films. Give him any historical character and watch it come to life, as period dramas are totally up his alley. Takht, is still in the final stages of being drafted and Karan Johar is said to start the location recce soon. As of now the movie is slated to release late in the second half of 2020.
