Kalank’s latest song, Ghar More Pardesiya shows off Alia Bhatt’s dancing chops. This is an upcoming film starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and none other than Alia Bhatt herself. Produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank tells the story of a bygone era with violence and love and hate playing their role in each of the protagonists’ stories.

Watch the song:

This song shows us more of Alia Bhatt’s character ‘Roop’ than anything else. While Alia’s acting skills are mighty impressive, it’s strange to see dancing legend Madhuri Dixit just standing there and watching with a smile. One would expect Madhuri to start a step any moment (Dola Re déjà vu) but the song ends with Alia Bhatt’s magnificent spins and Varun Dhawan (playing the role of Zafar) walking in.

Initially, Ghar More Pardesiya seems more of a song about distance and disconnection. It immediately transitions midway to a song about a newfound relation (Bahaar Begum and Roop, aka Madhuri Dixit and Alia Bhatt) where ‘Roop’ begins to dance.

The song is beautifully sung and choreographed with classic Dharma touches: the grand shots and multiple background dancers in gorgeous dresses. The only regret here would be how, as mentioned before, Madhuri Dixit doesn’t dance at all in the whole song. This just raises expectations for another song to be released where Madhuri gets to light up the screen with her performance.

Karan Johar shared a few pictures from the song hence:

Kalank releases on April 17, 2019.
