Every 90s kid, who is also a Bollywood buff, is sure to have Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in the list of their favourites. The film, which was released back in 1995, starred superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in iconic roles that many still remember to this day. Whether it’s the famous dialogue, “Jaa Simran, Jaa,” or the iconic train scene in the end, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge will always remain a classic for Bollywood enthusiasts. And while it may seem like just yesterday, today marks 24 years since the release of the film that touched hearts across the globe.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was released on October 19, 1995 and to celebrate 24 years of the film Kajol recreated yet another iconic pose from the film. In the original Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge poster, Kajol was seen sitting and reading a book, while Shah Rukh sat with his back against Kajol, holding a guitar in his hand. In the photo posted by Kajol now, she is seen similarly sitting against a wall, with a pair of glasses and a book in her hand. To mark the 24th anniversary of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, she captioned the picture, “Still got the specs & still reading in weird places even after 24 years.”
Even after 24 years of its release, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continues to run in Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai. The Shah Rukh and Kajol starrer was one of the biggest films of the time as many still recall them by their character names, Raj and Simran. Apart from the two stars, the film also featured Anupam Kher, Mandira Bedi, Farida Bedi and the late actor, Amrish Puri. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge won several awards after its release, including 10 Filmfare Awards including Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director.
