Kabir Singh is having a dream run at the box office. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film is a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy that starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey and it is cracking some serious box office records. While there have been mixed reviews of the film so far (read film's main star Shahid Kapoor's response here), the film continues to grow massively at the box office.

According to trade website, Box Office India, "Kabir Singh had an outstanding first week of over 133 crore nett and it is the third highest non holiday first week of all time after Bahubali". The trade website continues to state that Kabir Singh is "second to Bharat for 2019 which grossed 168 crore nett in first week but had the Eid period in its first week".
Until Monday, Salman Khan's Bharat had amassed 195 crores by its third weekend. Bharat was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starred Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover along with Salman Khan himself and was based on the Korean film, An Ode to My Father.
Other major releases this year include Uri: The Surgical Strike starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam which amassed around 245 crores at the domestic box office. Slapstick comedy Total Dhamaal starring Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Esha Gupta, Anil Kapoor and Johnny Lever earned 150 crores Akshay Kumar's Kesari earned 151 crores. Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy did well overseas but earned 134 crores in India. De De Pyaar De, Kalank, Lukka Chuppi, Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi and Badla all earned between 80-90 crores at the box office in 2019. The July clash at the box office will be between Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 and Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao's Mental Hai Kya.
