There have been reports on the electronic medium quoting representatives of some fringe Karnataka political parties proclaiming that Rajinikanth’s starrer Kaala would not be released in the State because of the Superstar’s non-committal stance on the Kauveri water issue. However sources from Karnataka and from Tamil Nadu completely dismiss the attempts to downsize the film’s reach.
Tamil actor-activist Vishal Krishna defends the film’s right to be released unfettered. “These elements from Karnataka that speak of banning the film have no say in the matter. How can any organization bar the film from releasing once the censor board has given its go-ahead? And what has Rajini Sir got to do with the Cauvery issue? This is just a lot of noise being created by elements who want to be noticed.”
Another source in the know from Karnataka says, “If half a dozen voices are against Kaala, half a million people in Karnataka are going to be outraged beyond control if the film is denied release. There is no question Kaala not being released in Karnataka.” Kaala has already suffered serious delays due to Rajinikanth’s other underproduction film 2:0 which was to release in late 2017 and then January 2018 but has since then pushed back several times while Kaala waited patiently for the other film to clear the way.
Kaala is yet another larger-than-life film featuring Rajinikanth, the trailer of which was released recently. Read our trailer review here. And watch the trailer below:
