Eight years of blood, death, heartbreak and sex came to and end this week when HBO aired the series finale of Game of Thrones. The medieval fantasy drama series has given fans a lot of memories. To Joe Jonas, it helped him find his soulmate. Taking to Twitter the singer-composer thanked the series for introducing him to his now wife, Sophie Turner. Turner played Sansa Stark on the award-winning show. The finale saw her being crowned as Queen of the North.
“When you realize Game of Thrones over vibes…” he wrote. “Congratulations to everyone that worked on this incredible show! life changing television.”
The 29-year-old was specially grateful as the show introduced him to his wife. “I have you to thank for introducing me to the incredible Sophie Turner [@SophieT]. Long live the QUEEN OF THE MF NORTH,” said the pop star.
Turner and Jonas met after the pop star slid into her Instagram direct messages. “We had a lot of mutual friends, and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time,” Turner told Harper’s Bazaar UK in March. “We were following each other on Instagram, and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.” The GoT actor recently spoke about how Jonas helped her through her mental health struggles while growing up in the spotlight. “I think he kind of saved my life, in a way,” Turner told the Sunday Times in a recent interview. She explained how Jonas encouraged her to love herself.
“He was, like, ‘I can’t be with you until you love yourself, I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself.’ That was something, him doing that,” she said. Jonas married the 23-year-old actress earlier this month at a ceremony in Las Vegas – their marriage was officiated by an Elvis impersonator and was ensued by an acoustic performance of Speechless by Dan and Shay. The couple is expected to have another ceremony in Europe later this year.
