Getting a role in Bollywood is often a matter of chance. There have been many occasions when an actress has either lost out on or grabbed a role out of sheer luck. A similar game of musical chairs is being played between Jacqueline Fernandez and former Miss India Manushi Chillar over the lead role in the sequel to Kick, starring Salman Khan.
We hear that breaking the near-norm whereby leading ladies are never repeated in a sequel, Jacqueline Fernandez has bagged the heroine’s part in Kick 2 which producer Sajid Nadiadwala will direct. Sajid Nadiadwala had also directed the earlier film which had Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles.
The story goes that Sajid was keen to rope in the pretty Manushi Chillar who is still looking for a proper Bollywood vehicle for her debut. But here is where Jacqueline pipped her to the post. Jacky, sources say, was very interested in reprising her role in the sequel and pitched it to the makers, who eventually was convinced that she would make for the best lead.
Kick was Jacqueline’s big hit and it got her a lot of attention, with her chemistry and pairing with Salman Khan being the talk of town. Perhaps the makers too wanted to cash in on the tried and tested than go for a new face. Unfortunately, it may not have worked for Manushi Chillar this time but we hope she would soon find her way into Bollywood in a suitable film.
