“Ishq Zahe Naseeb” continues its fluid, natural method of storytelling. To date, we have seen Goher and Kashif’s paths breaking off into different directions. In episode 12, viewers begin to see new relationships blossoming for the two. While Kashif and Donia seem to be forming a bond, Goher finds that her boss, Sameer, may not be as bad as she initially thought.
In the latest episode of “Ishq Zahe Naseeb,” Jahangir (Khalid Malik) is furious at the rejection of his and Goher’s (Sonya Hussain) relationship. He bickers with his family over the repayment of the loan owed by Goher’s family and arouses suspicion as to the nature of where the money came from. He confronts Saleem (Saad Azhar), accusing him of selling his sister for money. The family gets into a fight with Jahangir before Saleem finally tells him Goher will not marry him. This angers Jahangir and he begins hatching a sinister plot – one that involves acid.
Kashif (Sami Khan) visits Donia (Zarnish Khan) and her father to invite them to his sister’s wedding. It is visible that Donia has begun to develop a soft spot for Kashif and the two are seen sharing a pleasant moment.
Goher returns to work with a heavy heart, burdened once again by her father’s loan. While the loan has been lifted from Jahangir’s father’s side, she now feels she is indebted to Sameer (Zahid Ahmed). She informs him that she will repay the money in installments. Comfortable in her role, Goher bonds with Begum Sahiba (Ismat Zaidi) as she discusses Sameer’s upbringing with Goher. Goher is shocked to learn how Sameer’s mother abandoned him at a young age and would also lock Sameer up in the basement while having her affair. Sameer offers to drop Goher home one evening as it’s late and the two share a pleasant moment in the car – a moment which leads to shock when Goher discovers that her brother took much more money from Sameer than the amount of her father’s loan.
At present, we’ve seen ARY actively including the topic of acid attacks in their storylines. In “Surkh Chandni,” the story focuses on Aida, an acid attack victim, and her fight for justice against the system, society and her perpetrator. In “Hassad,” though the story focused on an entirely different storyline, the acid attack angle was covered in the last two episodes. While the details of the attack on Goher are uncertain at this point, this seems to be HUM TV’s foray into covering this topic as well. In this episode, Jahangir is seen heavily plotting against Goher, planning the acid attack. Viewers will see him carry it out in the next episode, though the outcome of the attack is not yet certain. It’s also heartbreaking to see how Goher is being played by her own family for money. As Goher is a headstrong, independent girl who is working to repay her father’s loan, she is relieved to no longer have to marry Jahangir due to the loan – but realizes quickly that she has now been locked into a money sacrifice that weighs heavy on her conscience. It will be interesting to see how Sameer and Goher’s relationship begins to develop now – and how dangerous this could be for Goher.
