Filmmaker Mira Nair is currently gearing up for his next film A Suitable Boy. As earlier announced, the film will star Ishaan Khatter, Tabu, Tanya Maniklata and Vijay Verma in titular roles. A photo recently posted on social media shows that the cast of the film had just met the filmmaker and had a read through of the script. BBC One made the announcement on Instagram and wrote, "Director Mira Nair, screenwriter Andrew Davies and author Vikram Seth recently gathered in Mumbai for a very special read-through with the all-Indian cast of A Suitable Boy, including Tabu, Ishaan khatter and Tanya Maniktala." The post also mentioned that filming for A Suitable Boy will begin today.
Young actor Ishaan also posted a few photos of the meeting on his Instagram stories. Sharing a photo of Meera, Vikram and Andrew, Ishaan captioned it, "The pillars of A Suitable Boy." On the other hand, he also shared another photo with Tabu and Tanya and wrote that it is a pleasure for him to be working with Tabu. He added that he also looks forward to sharing the screen space with Tanya. Earlier, Ishaan also made the announcement to join the cast of A Suitable Boy, on social media. He revealed that he would be playing Maan Kapoor in Vikram's adaptation.
Ishaan wrote, "Elated to announce that I’ll be playing Maan Kapoor in Mira Nair’s and BBC One’s official adaptation of Vikram Seth’s ‘A Suitable Boy’. It’s not only my pleasure but an honour to be working on this illustrious material alongside such distinguished artists and technicians led by the indomitable Mira Nair. I hope I can satisfy her vision and give the global audience the character they deserve in Maan." A Suitable Boy is a coming of age story, set in 1951's North India. It tells the story of several families and their effort to find the perfect, suitable boy to get their daughter married to.
