It was touted to be Sanjay Dutt's big comeback film after Sanju, the biopic based on his life. However, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster turned out to be a huge disappointment at the box office and a critical failure at the box office too.
Apparently a lot of Dutt’s scenes were either edited or never shot at all. A friend of the actor says, “If you see the way his role shapes up in the film, it has a very unfinished look about it. It is obvious that the role and character have not been shot the way it was meant to.”
What makes it worse is the fact that Dutt was hoping this film would be his big comeback. “After Sanju clicked in a big way Baba was sure that Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 would attract audiences. But the film didn’t even get an opening. To make matters worse, his role and screen presence were seriously limited, even less than that of Jimmy Sheirgil and Mahie Gill.”
Apparently Dutt rang up Dhulia and let him know exactly how he felt about the betrayal. Says the source, “This is awkward for the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster producer Rahul Mittra, as he has another film Torbaaz on the floors with Sanjay Dutt.”
The film was the third part in a franchise and also co-starred Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill.
