Ekta Kapoor, who is one of the undisputed queens of Indian television, has been facing a lot of flak about her decision to get Chetan Bhagat on board as a judge on the latest season of dance reality show, Nach Baliye which started on April 26. Ekta who has also managed to rope in choreographer Marzi Pestonji and Preity Zinta as judges after it was reportedly turned down by Kareena Kapoor and Vidya Balan believes that Chetan will be a great motivating factor and storyteller on the show. In a statement, she has said, “Since this year is all about too much, we thought why not go ahead with another twist and bring in someone that people would not normally expect. Chetan is the X-Factor of the show and his role on the show will be that of a motivator and storyteller, he will focus on finding the real perfect couple on Nach Baliye."
According to an India.com report, this season is about exploring 11 different love stories through each celebrity contestant couple and the idea is to express the story of their love through dance. Ekta believes that she wants to move beyond the glamorous aspect of reality television and challenge contestants on their knowledge of each other.
The focus in the new season will be on trust, team work and compatibility and the couple that wins the 'love power' challenge will be saved that week which is in complete contrast to the original format of the show. Ekta has eliminated the audience voting system and hopes that the new twists, turns and surprises (rumour has it that Ekta might step in as a 'maha' judge) will be enough to give Nach Baliye loyalists a roller coaster of emotions and adventures. But, the question Twitterati and also viewers in general are asking is...'Where's the dance?'
