Mumbai Heroes had a great run till the semi-finals of CCL (Celebrity Cricket League) championship. But this happiness was short-lived as Mumbai Heroes finally succumbed to a loss in the semi-finals against the Karnataka Bulldozers.
We now hear that the reason behind their loss was not an on-field situation, but apparently an off-field quarrel!
The continuous spats between the captain of the team, Sunil Shetty, and the vice-captain, Aftab Shivdasani, allegedly made Sunil quit the team during important matches, which finally resulted in their loss.
According to sources, “Aftab felt that Sunil was a biased captain and Sunil felt that Aftab is too slow a player.”
Suniel decided not to be part of the Cuttack match and he did not even turn up on the grounds during the semi-finals. We also hear that Suniel’s exit affected the team adversely, although the team won two matches after he quit the team. But Suniel is an ace batsman and his presence in the semi-finals could have made the difference!
Suniel says, “My father has been unwell. Hence I did not play.” Whereas Aftab was unavailable for comment!
