Irrfan Khan’s ‘Angrezi Medium’ Update: Pankaj Tripathi Joins the Cast
Irrfan Khan is back with ‘Angrezi Medium’ which is the sequel to his previous hit ‘Hindi Medium.’ Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi has joined the cast
Irrfan Khan’s Angrezi Medium has found a new cast member. Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi has joined the cast of Angrezi Medium and the actor had this to say, "It is my love and respect for Irrfan and my friendship with Dinoo [Dinesh Vijan] that made me say yes," the actor said.
Irrfan Khan was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer which sent him out of commission for the past year. Irrfan travelled to the US for treatment and was sorely missed by the industry. His film Hindi Medium starred Pakistani actress Saba Qamar but due to the tensions between the two countries after the Pulwama attack, Saba would not be joining the cast of the sequel. It is Kareena Kapoor Khan who would be doing the role of the female protagonist in the film. Pankaj Tripathi has also joined the cast.

In the upcoming film, Irrfan plays a snack shop owner and Kareena plays a tough cop. The original film was based around the concept of social exclusion and the fact that speaking English was a ‘class.' Angrezi Medium is set in the USA and it is expected that it would also explore similar themes.
Pankaj Tripathi also appeared in the recent hit romantic comedy Luka Chuppi. In the film Pankaj played a colourful conman who is constantly on the lookout of landing the lead (Kartik Aaryan) in trouble. Pankaj also won critical acclaim in the earlier film Newton, which was India’s official entry to the Oscars that year.
