Bollywood star Irrfan Khan has made a huge name for himself in the industry as one of the finest actors. Over the span of his career, he has worked with some of the best actors and actresses, and went on to give some of the biggest box office films ever. However, early in 2018, after filming Karwaan and Blackmail, he took a short hiatus from Bollywood and acting as he was diagnosed with a rare form of illness. Before his break, he did announce a sequel to his hit film Hindi Medium opposite Pakistani starlet Saba Qamar, but of course, due to his illness, couldn’t film it.
But earlier this year, the actor returned to India and it was revealed that he would get back to filming the sequel, which is titled Angrezi Medium. Now, it seems like the shooting has been completed and there is a release date. Fans of the actor and Hindi Medium, will see Irrfan play Champak Goswami in Angrezi Medium – which is a different character than the one he played in Hindi Medium named Raj Batra. The film is announced to release next year on March 20.
Directed by Homi Adajania, Angrezi Medium will also feature Kareena Kapoor Khan in a titular role and Radhika Madan of Pataakha fame – who will play Irrfan’s character’s daughter, Ananya, in the film. Earlier reports suggested that Kareena would be replacing Saba in the sequel as Irrfan’s character’s wife, however, that is not the case. Kareena will be seen essaying a cop from London named Naina. The film will also feature Sacred Games stars Pankaj Tripathi and Ranvir Shorey along with veteran Bollywood beauty, Dimple Kapadia. Much like Hindi Medium, Angrezi Medium will also touch up on the education system, however, details of the plot have not been revealed so far.
