In Times of War, Take a Look At These India and Pakistan Collaborations
Indo-Pak collaborations have always happened in the past and perhaps will continue happening in the future as well. Here are all the times when artistes between the two countries made beautiful art, music and films together
In the last few days, tensions between Pakistan and India have increased like never before.
With social media clamouring for war and violence, the repercussions have been felt across the subcontinent. Needless to say, Indo-Pak collaborations – creative and otherwise – have been put officially on hold. Yesterday Pakistan Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary announced a total ban on Bollywood films being released in Pakistan. Earlier, India had announced its own ban on Pakistani artistes. This happened after the February 14th attack in which an explosive laden van rammed into a CRPF convoy, leading to the death of 40 soldiers.
As a result Indian Air Forces attacked Pakistan and Pakistan attacked Indian airplanes as well. Currently, both countries are at the brink of war (shudder!).
So perhaps this is the right time to recall how Indian and Pakistani artistes have both come together in happier times when political tensions were not as high as today. Who knows if we will see such amazing collaborations again! So for the sake of the nostalgia, here’s what we may miss in the future
1. Atif Aslam:
Atif has sung numerous songs for Bollywood films that have been famous. His track Tera Honay Laga Hoon for Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani became a popular romantic ballad. Atif has also sung Dil Diyan Gallan for Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai and has also sung for several Bhai films.
2. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan:
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has also sung for infinite films starring Bhai and Akshay. His most recent one being Tere Bin for Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba.
3. Khoobsoorat, Kapoor and Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil:
Hottie Fawad Khan co-starred Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Sidhath Malhotra among others in these three films.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia, this gangster flick starred Shah Rukh Khan opposite Mahira Khan.
5. Hindi Medium:
Telling the story of class difference and status quo, this film starred Saba Qamar and Irrfan Khan
This revenge thriller starred Sridevi, Nawazuddin Siddiqi alongside Pakistani actors Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqi
Very recently when Fawad Khan’s film’s upcoming film’s The Legend of Maula Jatt’s trailer was announced, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor had all tweeted their regards and best of luck to Fawad Khan.
Sigh, will we see these times again?
