Imran Abbas and Sana Javed's Inaam: Another TV Show With a Strong Message

Imran Abbas and Sana Javed star in Inaam, an upcoming tv show that has a very strong message

The promos of Inaam have begun airing and intriguing viewers, as three separate promos are in circulation.  Inaam is set to air on GEO starting June 11, 2019, so viewers will not have to wait long now to watch the story unfold. Starring Imran Abbas and Sana Javed, the lead pair is interesting enough to pull viewers in.  What makes the story interesting is that Imran Abbas is playing a negative character – and no, we are not talking a “Koi Chand Rakh” sort of negative, but thoroughly negative.

In the first teaser, we witness Sana happily running ahead towards a man with his back turned.  When the man, Imran Abbas, turns around, we immediately see the smile disappear from her face.  As Imran reaches for her, she pushes his hand away and angrily walks away, leaving Imran rooted in place with a sad expression. In the second teaser, we see that Sana plays a working girl.  She finds herself in an uncomfortable situation when her boss, Imran Abbas, continuously seems to find ways to get close to her.  Whether it’s hooking her dupatta onto her button, getting too close, he does everything that would make a woman feel safe and uncomfortable in the workplace.  At the end of the promo, we see Sana Javed in tears as Imran Abbas sings “Afreen Afreen” in a creepy way, insinuating his harassment will only get worse.

In the third (and final) teaser, Sana is seen being taunted by the “mohallay waale” (her neighbors).  She is accused of being immoral, promiscuous and several other things.  Of course, these insults cannot only extend to the daughter.  These nosy neighbors begin accusing her father of being unable to raise his children well.  Her father, played by Qavi Khan, feels ashamed of his daughter and slaps her declaring that she is now dead to him.

It’s refreshing to see the onslaught of new shows tackling different subjects that are important for viewers to be aware of.  With more women working and girls studying and working side by side with men, sexual harassment and how to fight back is something every woman should be aware of.  Judging by the teasers, the story seems to deal with sexual harassment in the workplace.  Does Sana fall prey to Imran’s character?  Does she fight against harassment before she can become a victim?  How the story is presented in its entirely, we will have to wait and watch.  It will be interesting to see how such a story is tackled and presented for Pakistani television viewers.
