For the longest time, Sooraj Pancholi kept quiet about the death of his former girlfriend and Bollywood actress Jiah Khan. Completely immersed now in the promotion of his upcoming film Hero, speculations are rife regarding the circumstances that led Jiah Khan to commit suicide. Sooraj was also accused of abetment and questioned by the police. The actor has refrained from speaking about Jiah as he feels it is has been misconstrued as an attempt at seeking publicity just before the release of his debut film.
"Recently, I had tried to talk about the incident but people started to think that I want publicity from this topic. So I decided that the lesser I talk about it, the better it is," Sooraj said in a pinkvilla.com article, when asked about difficulties in overcoming the hardships related to the case.
Jiah Khan had reportedly committed suicide in 2013 while in a relationship with Sooraj and according to reports, her suicide letter and her last few phone messages had strongly pointed towards Sooraj's involvement, said the article. Sooraj was subsequently arrested, but was later released.
Sooraj said during the promotions of the movie, "My name will always be associated with her and I have no guilt for that. I am happy that something at least stays with me. I am sad that she ended her life. But at least her name is with me and I have no problems with it. I miss her. I miss her everyday of my life. I am missing her while I am sitting with you right now."
