Alia Bhatt has taken a strong stand in the pay parity debate by admitting that she doesn't deserve more money than what is being paid to Varun Dhawan. Alia has also said that the pay should depend on stardom and she knows that she doesn't have the same stardom as that of Varun Dhawan. The stand is opposite to some actors who have demanded same pay for actresses without considering the popularity factor or the length of the roles.
In an interview with DNA, she said, “Investing money in a film is directly co-related to the people you are bringing to the theatre. I’m not delusional that the same number of viewers who go to watch Varun’s movies will come to see my work. He has a wider reach than me. That’s why I can’t expect that the same amount of money, which is invested in his solo-starrers, is invested in mine, too.”
Alia told DNA that she doesn't want to be arrogant by deciding what she deserves.
She said, “I’ll neither undervalue nor overvalue myself because there’s a certain arrogance that comes along with it.”
Well said Alia!
