Hrithik Roshan is all set to step into the mighty Amitabh Bachchan’s shoes in the official remake of Satte Pe Satta to be directed by Farah Khan. The original, starring Big B along with Hema Malini and a host of supporting cast including Sachin, Shakti Kapoor, Kanwaljeet, Ranjeeta, Amjad Khan among others, was directed by Raj N Sippy and was a direct ripoff of Stanley Donen’s 1954 romantic classic Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Sippy’s Satte Pe Satta released in 1982 was a hit. It is still hugely popular among film buffs and garners a lot of TRPs when it is aired on television. The R D Burman songs are recalled to this day. Apparently some of music from Sippy’s film will be redesigned and used by Farah Khan.
This is the second Bachchan film that Hrithik Roshan is stepping into. Like Agneepath which was encored by Hrithik with many departures from the original, the remake of Satte Pe Satta will be very different from the original. “Hrithik heard Farah’s narration and fell in love with the concept. However he wanted changes in the script. And those are being worked upon. Only then will Hrithik’s final yes happen,” says the source.
Also the reports of Deepika Padukone saying yes to Farah Khan’s Satte Pe Satta are completely baseless. Says a source in the know, “Only Hrithik has been finalized. The heroine is yet to be approached.”
Hrithik’s latest film Super 30 has just hit the theatres and it has garnered a lot of positive response. Read the review of the film here.
