Fans have been waiting in anticipation for Hrithik Roshan starrer, Super 30. The film is based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar and hit theatre screen on July 12. Just as the film started faring well at the box office, it has come to film makers’ attention that the film has been leaked online by piracy group Tamilrockers. The piracy website is notorious for leaking every new release online and leaking new releases online seriously harms business. Despite major efforts to keep this at bay, the piracy website has been successful in making new releases available online.
Aside from Super 30, the website has also released pirated versions of major new releases including Kabir Singh, Article 15, Oh Baby and Spider-Man Far From Home. While Delhi High Court had ordered to block similar piracy hubs, Tamilrockers have continue to cause trouble for the film industry. The website keeps changing its domain extension and can also be accessed through proxy servers.
Hrithik Roshan in Super 30
Tamilrockers, a website that began in 2011, releases films and music, has been a rebel in the world of entertainment. "Tamilrockers New URL" is a hashtag that trends on social media because their old website keeps getting suspended and they keep coming back with a new url which has their content. People search for their url and users share the URL via pictures. According to a report, the people running the website were said to be "generating between US$1,500 and US$3,000 each per month".
Magnet links, torrent files, peer-to-peer file sharing enable users to download/access content on their website. Tamil Rockers also uses content of Hollywood/Bollywood movies which are dubbed in regional languages. Earlier last year, it was heard that some men were arrested who were running the website.
Super 30 has been directed by Vikas Bahl and narrates the story of a math wizard Anand Kumar who rose to fame for his teaching programme Super 30 for underprivileged students for the IIT entrance examination. Apart from Hrithik Roshan, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Mrunal Thakur, Aditya Srivastava and Nandish Sandhu, among others.
Writer Samrushi Ghosh in her review of the film wrote, "Though Hrithik Roshan tries hard to look convincing as Anand Kumar, the brown make-up (the shades of which fluctuate through the film) just does not cut it. Strangely enough, though so much work has gone into giving the actor a darker complexion, nothing is done about his naturally hazel green eyes. Contact lenses, anyone?" She went on to add, “Hrithik's Bihari accent leaves much to be desired. However, if you can look past these, he delivers an earnest performance."
