Indian wedding celebrations are all about ceremonies. Mehendi, Sangeet, reception… the occasions are endless and a bride needs a different look for each. If you are a soon-to-be bride and have followed the Bollywood bridal look-book for 2019, you would have already got a few tips. Here I give some more!

STEPS TO FLAWLESS SKIN

Prime up your skin
Before starting with makeup, prepare your skin well. Start by properly cleansing your skin, applying toner and then moisturizer, followed by the primer to get the base right. It instantly brightens our skin tone and softens blemishes and pores.

Product recommended: Smash Box pore minimising primer

COLOR CORRECTION/ CONCEALER:

Use a color corrector to cover pigmentation, dark circles or any blemishes followed with a concealer. Different rules applies for under-eye circles when it comes to skin tone. For light skin, a yellow, peach or purple-based concealer will cancel out the gray tones created when concealer is layered over shadowy areas. On deeper skin, use bright orange corrector, followed by a yellow-toned concealer.

Product recommended: Fenty Beauty pro filtr Instant retouch concealer

FOUNDATION:

Even out your skin tone with the foundation closest to your skin tone. After color correction, the aim is to have a flawless base, therefore use a natural looking light coverage foundation. Use a buffing foundation brush or beauty blender for seamless blending.

Product recommended: Fenty Beauty pro Filtr foundation

POWDER:

Use a sponge or brush to apply a thin layer of loose or pressed powder on your face, especially areas that are prone to oiliness.

Product recommended: Fenty Beauty pro Filtr Retouch Setting powder

LIGHT CONTOURING:

Apply the dark sculpt under your jaw line and cheekbones and sides of your nose. The more natural the contouring is, the better it is. You can use a damp beauty blender or a contour brush to blend out the product.

Product recommended: Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

BLUSH:

With a brush, apply a blusher to the apple of the cheeks and blend towards the hairline.

DEFINE YOUR BROWS:

Lightly shape, define and fill the brows using a pencil. Gently blend for a natural look.

Product recommended: Sephora Eyebrow pencil

HIGHLIGHTER:

Highlight areas where light naturally hits like your cheekbones, brow bones and the bridge of your nose, the top of your cupid’s bow and the center of your chin.

EYE-MAKEUP

Your basic look would not change throughout the ceremonies, so what matters are the eyes. Change your eye-make up for different occasions. Here are some tips:

MEHENDI EYE MAKEUP LOOK

PREP: Prime your eyelids to keep your makeup in place all day. Add a concealer to the lids and dust a light transparent powder to prime eyes for the eyeshadow

EYESHADOW: Apply a very soft shimmering nude-pink or rose gold shadow all over the lid. Then apply matte taupe shade through the crease with a soft, fluffy.

Product recommended: Huda Beauty Nude palette

REINFORCE THE LOWER LASH LINE: Apply the same matte shadow you used along your bottom lashes, all the way across. Blend it well so the whole look on the bottom is connected to the top. This gives your lower lashes that same fresh sultry feeling as your eyelids.

EYELINER: Keep the eye liner thin and understated

KOHL TO WATERLINE: Use brown or black pencil to define your water line. Simply add a line of black pencil on the water lines of both of your eyes. This should make your eyes stand out.

MASCARA: Pump up your lashes with a coat of Mascara.

HIGHLIGHTER: A touch of shimmer on the inner corners of your eyes, brow bone, and cheekbones hides the ravages of the day.

WEDDING EYE MAKEUP LOOK: GLITTER CUT CREASE EYE MAKEUP

To execute the perfect cut crease, select three colors to use along with a glitter.

Product recommended: Tarte Pro Remix Eyeshadow Palette.

PREP YOUR EYES: Prime your eyelids to keep your makeup in place all day. Add a concealer to the lids and dust a light transparent powder to prime the eyes for the shadow.

APPLY A MEDIUM TONE EYESHADOW JUST SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE EYELID CREASE: Apply the lightest shade to the upper crease and draw a slightly curved arch just above your natural eyelid crease with a fluffy blending.

APPLY A DARK TONE EYESHADOW TO THE EYELID CREASE: Choose a color that is similar to your first eye shadow but darker than it. For e.g. if you used a champagne-colored shadow for the first layer, try a dark brown eyeshadow and blend that color towards the upper part of your crease with a separate brush.

APPLY THE DARKEST SHADE ON THE CENTER OF THE CREASE: Deepen it as much as possible, the more contrast the better it is.

CUT THE CREASE: Use a flat makeup brush dipped in concealer to create a rounded line right below your natural crease, work from below all the way down to your lash line. Once it is flawlessly done, use a translucent powder to set the concealer.

HIGHLIGHT THE EYELID: Apply a glitter eyeshadow on the eye lid.

LOWER LASH LINE: Apply the deepest eyeshadow below your bottom eyelashes with a thin brush and blend it well.

WATER LINE: Use brown or black pencil to define your water line.

EYE LINER: A nice winged eyeliner looks amazing.

HIGHLIGHTER: Apply highlighter on the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes.

MASCARA AND FALSE EYELASHES: It's time to really make those top lashes pop by adding your favorite false eye lashes and apply mascara on your upper and lower lashes .

LIPSTICK: Complete the look with your favourite lipstick. If it's the day time wedding, go for soft shades such as pinks and coral. If it’s night time choose a shade of red.

RECEPTION EYE MAKEUP LOOK: CLASSIC BRONZE EYES AND BOLD LIPS

PREP YOUR EYE LIDS: Prime your eyelids, add a concealer to the lids and dust a light transparent powder.

EYESHADOW STEP 1: Using a light brown shade, dust this into the crease to work as a transition shade and blend it towards the brow bone.

EYESHADOW STEP 2: Apply a shimmery bronze shade on the eye lid

EYESHADOW STEP 3: Blend a medium brown shade onto the outer half of the lids directing the color in a triangle shape so the inner half stays light

EYESHADOW STEP 4: Now apply a deeper brown shade on along the lash line and in the outer v to add a bit more dimension to it.

EYE LINER: Apply the brown or black eyeliner on your lash line

LOWER LASH LINE: Apply a medium brown shade along the lower lash line and deeper brown shade in the outer half and blend the 2 shades together.

HIGHLIGHTER: Apply highlighter on the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes.

MASCARA AND FALSE EYELASHES: It's time to really make those top lashes pop by adding your favorite false eye lashes and apply mascara on your upper and lower lashes .

LIPSTICK: Classic bronze eyes look their best with wine or red lips.
