Such training also increases activity in the left prefrontal cortex – a predictor of happiness and well-being. And it boosts your immune response, helping to defend against illness. A simple meditation technique therefore will go a long way in making you feel energized and motivated at work.
How to Get Over Sunday Morning Blues
For many corporate executives, getting over the first day of the week remains an uphill task. According to one Gallup study, humans contract a lot of ailments and also mortality on the first day of the week more than any other species.
Most people suffer from Sunday or Monday morning blues. They feel lethargic and find it difficult to concentrate after a weekend. But how we arrange the first day of our week influences our own as well as others’ time around us. Here are some tips for getting over these blues.
- Choose those activities that will make you accept, engage or enjoy it.
- Conduct a self-chat on how you have been feeling about the first day of the week. This will help you zero in on the reasons.
- Breathe and then loudly exhale five times. Repeat after every one/two hour.
- In the afternoon, try and have a 5-10 minutes of internal conversation or meditation about how despite all the resistance, you have come here. This is important as it helps you record your "life and the process of living" in a conscious manner.
Doing this for six or seven weeks will change your perspective of Sundays.
