There were a lot of rumours about a rift in Sridevi’s family after the actress’ untimely death in Dubai earlier this year. One of the speculations was that things were not alright between Sridevi’s sister Sri Latha and Boney’s family. However, all those rumours were put to rest on Monday when the entire family came out in full force to support Janhvi Kapoor’s debut movie Dhadak’s trailer launch. Father Boney Kapoor still in a state of mourning after Sridevi’s sudden demise but was joined at the music release by his brothers Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. Earlier, Boney’s son Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor wished Jahnvi on their social media accounts.
Janhvi not only had her chacha-clan in full attendance at the trailer launch, she also had her mother’s family showing up for the first time since Sridevi’s death, thereby quelling all rumours of a family dispute between Boney and Sri Latha. Says a source close to Boney, “Sri Latha was supposed to fly down from Chennai to Mumbai for the Dhadak trailer launch . But her mother-in-law was unwell. So Sri Latha’s daughter Maheshwari attended the trailer launch to show her solidarity and kinship with her cousin Janhvi.”
Deeply moved Boney says, “It was a moment that we all had waited for. But the one who most waited for it is no more.”
Sridevi would no doubt be proud of her daughter who is now taking her first step into Bollywood. Dhadak, produced by Karan Johar and co-starring Ishan Khatter, will release in July.
