Katrina Kaif may be looking her stunning best these days but lady luck is not on her side as far as her career is concerned. Her two big last releases with two of the biggest Khans – Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in Thugs of Hindostan and Zero respectively – came a huge cropper at the box office. This, despite Katrina winning some of the best reviews in her career for Zero.

Predictably, Katrina has been doing all she can to get her career back on track and is regularly meeting directors who would make a difference to the box office ratings. The latest is Rohit Shetty, whom she has allegedly approached to be cast in Sooryavanshi, opposite Akshay Kumar. Katrina and Akshay are a popular pair who has acted in several hit films such as Namastey London, Welcome and Singh is King.

But will Katrina be lucky? Or will someone else bag the coveted project? Bollywood is abuzz with rumours that Rohit Shetty has met other actresses including Sonam Kapoor for the part. So Katrina may have some competition in this regard.

Meanwhile, Katrina’s mentor,  guide and best friend Salman Khan has galvanized into action, in more ways than one. The next instalment of the Tiger series is being planned ahead of schedule with director Ali Abbas Zafar, so that’s one safe project that will in Katrina’s kitty. Also, the past two instalments – Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai – have been extremely successful and the Salman-Katrina pairing is one that is loved by audiences the most. Not just the Tiger… series, Katrina will also be seen in Bharat, which is this year’s big Eid release. Katrina had stepped in after Priyanka Chopra walked out of the film at the last moment for her wedding.

In an industry driven by self-interest, Salman and Katrina’s friendship has far outlived professional interests and the generous Khan has once again proved he stands up for his friends.
