The British Royal Family has maintained its place despite the modernization in the British society and culture. As the Royal family’s expenses are paid from the Sovereign Grant, they make sure they release a yearly account of where and why the money was spent supported by the taxpayers. After all, they majorly run on the British taxpayer money. Recently there came the annual report of the Sovereign Grant which detailed everything they wanted the people to know about their spending this year. For the rest of the parts, it is a boring and dry read until one reaches the part which explains the renovations of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home Frogmore Cottage.
Frogmore Cottage was actually prepared for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after combining five cottages in the Windsor Castle. The type B building needed massive renovations and restorations. This cost a massive amount of $4.83 million. The palace mentioned that the royal coupled paid themselves for the furniture, fittings and remaining fixtures. Since it is close to Heathrow Airport, the soundproofing was also given important consideration. They reportedly spent $91,000 for the soundproofing of Frogmore Cottage. The report also rubbished the rumors of a floating yoga room and Meghan’s mother Doria’s separate apartment in the Frogmore Cottage.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to move to Frogmore Cottage from their apartment in Kensington palace because reportedly all was not well among Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. However, it was not just about the wives as the brothers also did not get along very well. Their disputes became more pronounced at various royal events where the cold body language of both couples was obvious. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not only unfollowed the Cambridge couple on Instagram but also separated from the charity that both the brothers had founded together. The birth of Prince Harry’s son Archie, however, melted this ice a bit.
