Elle, who is only 21 years old, is the younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning and debuted in 2001 in the film I Am Sam, playing her sister’s younger version. However, she is not new to the world of films as her acting career started much earlier as a child, when she was not even three years old. Some of her best roles till date include The Beguiled (2017), Maleficent (2014), Somewhere (2010) and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008).

Elle really stood out at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year and was appreciated for her old-Hollywood glamour and high-fashion looks, as she sported outfits by Prada, Gucci and Dior, including a stunning bridal grown at the closing ceremony.

As the French film festival came to an end on Saturday, Elle said she wanted the festival to continue and shared that she would never forget these ten days. She added that the experience of being on the jury had transformed her because she had learnt so much and it had changed how she sees films.

Cannes Film Festival had a nine-person jury which selected Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite the Palme d’Or as the winner.

The jury also included President Alejandro González Iñárritu (Director, Mexico), Maimouna N’Diaye (Actor, Director, Burkina Faso), Alice Rohrwacher (Director, Italy) Enki Bilal (Director, France), Robin Campillo (Director, France) and Yorgos Lanthimos (Director, Greece). This jury bestowed awards for films in the Compétition section of the festival.

President of the Jury, Alejandro Inarritu said that Elle brought a younger perspective as a member of the jury. “Having Elle in the jury was a gift. Elle is an old soul in a way. She has been doing films forever. But to have the fresh ideas, it really grounded us,” he shared.
