Ben Wang, who’s managed to grab eyeballs following his role-play of Li Fong in Karate Kid: Legends, is a star on the rise. The actor, 25, has now reportedly been roped in to portray Wyatt Callow in the new Hunger Games movie, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is the on-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel. The casting can be seen as a significant jump in the young actor’s career, who has just shared the screen with cinema legend Jackie Chan in the sixth instalment of The Karate Kid franchise.

Wang plays Li Fong in the new Karate Kid feature, which is apparently set after the events of the Cobra Kai television series.

Ben Wong was born in Shanghai, China, and was best known for his character projection of Jin Wang in the Disney+ series, American Born Chinese; until he ended up sharing the screen with the iconic Jackie Chan in the martial arts drama, The Karate Kid: Legends. The up-and-rising star’s parents got divorced when he was merely 4.

A couple of years later, his mother decided to immigrate to the United States of America with him. Ben Wang used to shuffle his stay between his mother and grandparents during his childhood in Northfield, Minnesota. As he came of age, he decided to get himself enrolled at New York University to study musical theatre.

While Wang gained recognition after playing a part in American Born Chinese, he was also seen playing a part in Chang Can Dunk and Mean Girls, respectively. Some of his other projects include MacGyver, Search Party, and Sex Appeal.

About ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’

Ben Wang’s star seems to be on a constant rise, and deservedly so. As he gears up to make a splash with The Karate Kid: Legends, alongside Jackie Chan, he has also reportedly been roped signed to play Wyatt Callow in the new Hunger Games movie, which already features a star-studded cast. 

The film, helmed by Francis Lawrence, is set to hit cinemas worldwide on November 20, 2026. It will include the following actors playing a pivotal role each: Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Lili Taylor as Mags, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, and the incredible Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee.
