Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has secured her place in everyone’s heart, not only in India, but globally too. From being invited to some of the most coveted gatherings in the west, to being recognised by global awards, Aishwarya soon went on to become the face of Indian cinema in the west.
Long before any other B-town diva followed suit, Aishwarya had already marked her first in Hollywood with the film, Bride & Prejudice, after which she did a few more films- The Mistress of Spices, Provoked, The Last Legion and The Pink Panther 2, until she stopped and decided to continue solely in Bollywood.
Many fans wondered why Aishwarya didn’t pursue her acting career in Hollywood, considering her global fame, with some fans speculating that her marriage into the Bachchan family was the reason she decided to slow down.
Putting all doubts to rest, Aishwarya, who was recently at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), was quizzed by the media, about her decision of letting go of a future in Hollywood. The actress finally revealed that she never planned on giving up her Bollywood dreams to pursue Hollywood. She said, “I was very clear about that. Also because I enjoy Indian cinema I have had such wonderful directors to work with – I couldn’t get myself to do that. That’s because it is just a different rhythm – I know I can imagine some of our talent working there and experiencing it – it is exciting. It is wonderful to be part of cinema irrespective of which language or part of the world it is getting made in. It is just a different rhythm with which we worked in India and overseas…”
She went on to speak about how she had many opportunities to venture out into the west. She revealed, “I also had so many yes and no’s in my list of dos and don’ts. So it narrowed down my choices and that’s just the way I felt I would be comfortable.”
Aishwarya will next be seen in Fanney Khan, where she will star alongside Anil Kapoor, and fans cannot wait to see the duo again on the big screen, after their last film together, Taal!
