Priyanka and Parineeti
Their fans have waited a long time to see the two come together for a project. And it seems like their prayers have been heard! Yes, the sibling duo has joined hands for the Hindi version one of the most popular Hollywood animation films – Frozen 2. While we do agree Disney India could not have picked a better pair for the project, we feel the two starlets have been cast for the most appropriate voice-overs too. As the sisters reprise their real-life roles on-screen, Priyanka will be seen dubbing for Elsa while Parineeti will voice her sister Anna in the forthcoming sequel of the hit film.
However, Priyanka and Parineeti are not the first B-town celebs to be given this opportunity. In fact, 2019 has been the year of Hollywood adaptations. From Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan lending their voices for the Hindi remake of The Lion King to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently grabbing headlines for dubbing Angelina Jolie’s voice in the Bollywood version of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, here is a list of all the stars that have tried their hand at the same.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan voiced Mufasa in the Hindi version of the famous 90s classic The Lion King. The remake, which released on July 19 this year, was greatly received by fans of the Bollywood superstar. Shah Rukh even made a startling revelation in his interview with IANS earlier, adding that he had to dub one scene again because he and his son Aryan sounded SO alike! “We were listening to one of the scenes and all the experts in the dubbing theatre said I sounded like him. They told me I’d have to dub the scene again because we sounded too much like each other, which I never thought was the case,” SRK said at the time.
Another similarity to the Priyanka-Parineeti pairing, it seems like Disney India has started a new trend of roping in stars from the same family. Aryan dubbed Simmba in the Hindi remake of the world famous animation film. We love how while Priyanka and Parineeti take on the roles of sisters on the big screen as well, Shah Rukh and Aryan essayed the father-son duo of Mufasa and Simmba in the film too. How cute!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
It became official in the beginning of this month that the former Miss World had come on board for the Indian remake of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She will be dubbing for Angelina Jolie's character. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh was the first to break the news. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “IT'S OFFICIAL... Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joins the #Disney Universe... Lends her voice for Angelina Jolie’s character in *Hindi* version of #Maleficent: #MistressOfEvil... 18 Oct 2019 release in #English and #Hindi." This was the most predictable one: We all knew Aishwarya would foray into the Disney world one day!
Aishwarya is pretty suited for the role as well. A dark fantasy film, the Hollywood film told the story of the much-misunderstood fairy in the popular tale Sleeping Beauty. Not only does Mrs Abhishek Bachchan radiate power, mystery, and exoticism, which are all the qualities evident in Jolie’s character, but she can also be considered to be the Angelina Jolie of Bollywood. Or so, we think!
He became recognised after his stellar performance in Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy. Soon after, Siddhant dubbed for the Hindi version of Men In Black: International. Siddhant also got the opportunity to meet the Hollywood film’s lead star Chris Hemsworth and was elated as ever! While speaking to IANS, the actor earlier said, "It was quite overwhelming to dub for Hemsworth's character. He has got a great voice and to make up for that was a tough challenge. I have added an Indian touch to it for the Indian audience. It will be a fun film."
She too entertained fans as the desi MIB agent! Both her and Siddhant slayed in their roles in the trailer to the Hindi remake of Men In Black: International. She dubbed the character of Tessa Thompson while Siddhanth seemed to be the perfect choice for Chris Hemsworth!
Coming back to Frozen 2! It is not just us but PeeCee herself agrees that she and Elsa have a lot in common! "Elsa is a fictional character who’s known to be strongly-opinionated and level-headed traits that I deeply connect with. This not only made me want to be part of the film but also gives me a wonderful opportunity to present one of the most-successful animated films to our local audiences," said the Quantico star.
As fans wait with bated breaths for the release of Frozen 2 – which will hit theatres across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on November 22 – Priyanka revealed how ecstatic she is to star alongside Parineeti. "My happiness just went up a notch knowing that Parineeti will be voicing Anna's character. The two of us have never worked together before and this seems like a perfect movie to come together and an experience that I am going to cherish forever," she stated. Parineeti added, “You don’t need to be an actress to dream of being a Disney princess.” How cute! We feel the two will definitely do justice to their respective roles. Do you agree?
