The diva Sridevi who passed away suddenly in Dubai in February earlier this year was spoilt for choices in 2018. Both husband Boney Kapoor and family friend R Balki wanted to produce sequels to Sridevi’s super-successful starrers. While Boney was keen to produce Mr India 2 , the sequel to the cult 1987 film directed by Shekhar Kapoor, Balki was all set to start English Vinglish 2, the sequel to Sridevi’s compelling 2012 film about a middleclass housewife who learns to speak English .
Says a well-informed source, “Both the projects were Sridevi’s for the taking.A ll she had to do was make up her mind which one she wanted to do first. Alas, God had other plans.”
Sridevi was found dead in Dubai where she had come to attend Boney’s nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Initially there were conflicting reports about her death but it was revealed to be a case of accidental drowning. Recently, it was announced that she would get the Best Actress National Award for Mom that released in 2017.
