The second half of 2017 in Bollywood, was centered around Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. With the film facing a lot of difficulty, this time has been most difficult for the filmmaker and the actors, Deepika, Ranveer and Shahid.
While the film that was set to release in December last year is still struggling to find a release date, it has finally gotten a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. However, the shocking bit is that the board has ordered 26 cuts along with a change in the title. According to reports, the board will only issue the certificate once these changes have been applied.
Commenting on the decision, a member of the board said, “The film was approached with balanced view keeping in mind both the filmmakers and society. Considering complexities and concerns around the film the requirement for a special panel was felt by CBFC to add perspective to the final decision. Special panel consisted of Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Dr Chandramani Singh and Professor KK Singh of Jaipur University. Panel member had insights and also some reservations regarding claimed historical events and socio-cultural aspects which were duly discussed at length.”
We really hope we get a chance to watch this film soon.
