Guinness World Records: Ciel Hotel in Dubai to Open as the World’s Tallest Hotel in 2023

Dubai is home to the world’s tallest hotel, Gevora on Sheikh Zayed Road. However, Ciel Hotel in Dubai Marina will soon be taking over the title

Dubai is home to the world’s tallest hotel, Gevora on Sheikh Zayed Road, which opened in 2018 and was officially certified as a Guinness World Record. However, soon this record will be taken over by Ciel Hotel, which is currently under construction in Dubai Marina. It is being developed by The First Group (TFG) and has been designed by NORR, known for designing Atlantis - The Palm, a world-renowned resort. The 82-level Ciel Hotel will reach a height of 360 metres, which is four metres higher than the 75-storey Gevora Hotel. According to a spokesperson of TFG, Ciel will have 1,042 luxury suites, a spa, business facilities, and "multiple award-winning restaurants."

Its design will take advantage of the high altitude. The new hotel will have a glass observation deck offering 360-degree views of Dubai. Guests will also be able to enjoy different views of the city from the restaurants and the rooftop swimming pool. TFG’s spokesperson said the hotel’s guests would be able to see “panoramic views of the coastline and iconic landmarks, including the Palm Jumeirah (man-made island).”

Ciel Hotel’s design has already won three prizes at the International Property Awards in December, including Best International Hotel Architecture, Best Hotel Architecture Arabia, and Best High-rise Architecture Arabia.

Construction of the Ciel tower started in 2016 in Dubai Marina, which is already home to several skyscrapers, including Cayan Tower (306 metres) and Marina 101 (425-metres). The hotel is expected to open in late 2022 or early 2023, and TFG will be applying for formal certification as the world’s tallest hotel before the opening. Other hotels in Dubai which are also among the world’s tallest hotels include the JW Marriot Marquis (355 metres), the Rose Rayhaan (333 metres), and the Burj al Arab (321 metres).
