Singing sensation Sonu Nigam recently had the gossip columns buzzing when he took to twitter to express his comments on religion. His statements obviously made headlines and became the town of the town. Many b-town folks were in support of the singer’s viewpoints while some others thought it was hurtful and unnecessary.
Sonu however chose to take this battle all the way when he accepted a challenge from a religious leader who asked him to shave his head. We obviously thought it would end there but some people have clearly not been able to move past Sonu Nigam’s harsh statements.
At a recent media event held to promote his film Hindi Medium, actor Irrfan Khan was asked to share his opinions on the whole fiasco. The actor said, "The loudspeaker matter is a big one. We will have to first think that are we, as a society, really so sensitive when it comes to sound? Are we sensitive about sound in other places? When there is a noisy discotheque near a hospital, do we talk about it then? If somebody has a problem with something then we should tackle all other problems related to the whole matter.”
He went on to explain the need to figure out what the real concern is, the use of loudspeakers in general or only for religious purposes. We don’t know about Sonu Nigam, but we seem to think Irrfan Khan does have a valid point. It certainly doesn’t look like this controversy is dying down anytime soon.
In other news, Irrfan Khan’s film Hindi Medium is set to release this month and we have to say, we’re pretty excited to watch it!
