Nine-year-old grandson Aarav lit the late actor Rajesh Khanna's pyre at the Vile Parle cremetorium, it was reported.
"Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar (Rajesh Khanna's son-in-law) assisted him," the late superstar's close friend Vijay Zaveri was quoted in the media.

Braving the rain, thousand of fans gathered to pay tribute to Bollywood's first superstar. The legend's final journey started around 10 am from his residence Aashirwad in Bandra this morning. His body, in a transparent casket, was placed on a mini-truck decorated with white flowers. The procession then went through Carter Road, Turner Road and SV Road before reaching the crematorium. The original plan was to have a longer procession, but due to rain it was kept short. However, that didn't deter his fans who gathered in huge numbers.

With him on his last journey were his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia, who took care of him in the last days, his younger daughter Rinke and son-in-law, and Akshay, who is married to his elder daughter Twinkle. Among the Bollywood big wigs who attended his last rites were Amitabh Bachchan, his successor as superstar, Sudhir Mishra, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Sajid Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Vinod Khanna and Aadesh Shrivastava.

Rajesh had passed away yesterday after losing his battle with cancer.

Meanwhile tributes have been pouring in for the late actor. From thousands of fans who thronged his house for a last glimpse to politicians and co-actors, everyone paid tributes to the actor and recalled his great contribution to cinema. While Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid his condolences, even Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf also mourned his death describing him as a great actor.
