Grammy Awards 2020: Three Looks That Stole The Show

The Grammy Awards took place last night and the who’s who of the music industry flocked to the red carpet to steal the show. But for us, these three divas stole the limelight

Celebrities, musicians, singers and songwriters all flooded to the Grammy Awards red carpet, just after news of Kobe Bryant’s death broke. There was a somber atmosphere at the awards after everyone learned how the NBA star passed away. Red carpet coverage was opened by television host and producer Ryan Seacrest, who gave a lengthy tribute to the NBA Star. A contrasting mood prevailed over the awards night as celebrities arrived for the show. If you weren’t aware, the Grammys are supposed to be one of the most bold and outrageous award ceremonies, sartorially speaking.

Many celebrities won big, taking home multiple awards in categories including Song Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Best Rap Song of The Year. Everyone was dressed to the nines as they made their way to grace the red carpet at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles. From fancy gowns to, to trailing dresses, to colourful tuxedos and plunging necklines; the Grammys red carpet had it all. And so, without further ado, we round up three of the best looks from the night.

1.      Chrissy Teigen

Accompanying her husband, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen arrived on the red carpet at the Grammys in a tangerine number which was perfectly complimenting her skin tone. The dress, which was a creation by Yanina Couture, was an amalgamation of ruffles, the peplum silhouette and showed just the right amount of skin. Exaggerated ruffles at the top of the dress became the focal point of her look, until you took a glance at the thigh-high slit. The tangerine number was cinched at the waist and opened up into a peplum silhouette. The gown was teamed with a pair of gold strappy sandals and a youthful glow. She opted for a minimal hair and makeup look and rounded off her look with a glossy pout.

2.      Ariana Grande

It appears that Ariana Grande most certainly got the memo for the Grammy Awards and turned up on the red carpet in a statement making tulle gown. The singer quite literally shut the red carpet down with her huge dress and left heads turning while doing so. Ariana Grande arrived on the red carpet and had her Cinderella moment in the grey tulle gown which featured layers and tiers of tulle. The oversized Giambattista Valli gown reportedly reaches some 20 feet in diameter. She paired the look with opera-length gloves, customized Christian Louboutin heels with bespoke non-slip soles and her iconic ponytail, which was dyed a light shade of blonde.

3.      Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey was a beaded beauty at the Grammy Awards this year. The singer’s album was nominated for Album of The Year and you will never guess where she got her dress from. When she was interviewed on the red carpet, she was of course asked who she was wearing, to which she responded, “the mall.” The dress featured beaded tassel detailing all over the bottom, with the top half also adorned in beads. The dress also featured a tasteful keyhole cutout and a thigh-high slit and was finished off with flouncy sleeves. The Summertime Sadness singer rounded off the look with a pair of silver heels, bold eyeliner and a retro vintage hairdo. She most certainly looked like a beauty queen dazzling in silver.

While many of the other looks didn’t quite cut it for us, these looks most definitely made the cut for the best dressed at the Grammy Awards. While many failed to impress, these looks are definitely serving some major style inspiration.
