The seemingly reluctant star wife who seemed happiest when she was away from the limelight, has come into her own and how. After launching her store Design Cell and doing a collaborative villa project, Naira, with best friend Sussanne, Gauri is now working with interiors and design group First Ferry Group. She will be launching the Gauri Khan line of accessories and fittings and will also be involved in designing any projects the group will be involved in including restaurants, spas and any other architectural spaces. First Ferry Founder Prateek Chaudhry and Group CEO Heinz Klier, tell us that they chose Gauri because of her impeccable style and taste.
It may seem like she has suddenly launched her career but Gauri has been working on her interior design career for a while. "It's not like I suddenly woke up and decided that I would do this because I had nothing better to do. I have been designing private homes and doing my own homes, which have been challenging and big projects in themselves." After taking a slight pause, Gauri goes on to admit, "Frankly I also wanted to gauge whether I loved this enough to want to do this. It is important to me to love it enough to make it my career."
It's clear that Gauri is serious about tapping into her talent and creating a niche for herself. The conversation meanders to details of Mannat, including her most private spaces, AbRam, her home life and what she envisions for herself in the future.
