Game of Thrones Fans Demand Remake of Series Finale
Mixed responses to the final season of Game of Thrones has led to fans creating a petition demanding a remake
The eighth season of Game of Thrones has received a mix bag of reactions. The social media is abuzz with disappointed fans complaining about the storyline, the direction and the unsatisfying conclusion to the much-hyped series. To say they are upset would be an understatement. The fans are now demanding remake of the final season. From Khaleesi’s transformation into the mad queen to Jon Snow’s lack of action, the show has garnered disappointment from all quarters.
The show’s end and the unusual choice for the new king of Westeros has added to the frustration of the fans. The backlash has resulted in a petition on Change.org seeking a do-over of the entire season.
'Remake Game of Thrones season eight with competent writers' has so far generated 1,154,141 signatures from disgruntled fans.
“David Benioff and DB Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (ie the books) to fall back on,” said the petition.
“This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
Many fans feel the season was rushed as plot twists lack depth and substance. The storyline does not add up to the characters’ charm, they feel.
“We watched it for more than eight years and in the end that’s what we get. Are you serious?” a fan wrote on the website.
The efforts, however strong, are unlikely to achieve any results though.
