According to a report in the Indian Express, an FIR has been filed against veteran actor Jeetendra, based on a sexual abuse complaint that was filed by his cousin. The police said the FIR was filed under Section 354 of the IPC at the Chotta Shimla police station."
The story had shocked Bollywood a few months ago when a distant cousin of the actor alleged that she was abused by him around 47 years ago. At that time, the victim said she was 18 and the actor was around 28 years old. She said that Jeetendra had asked her father for permission to take her to a film shoot and it was at the hotel that the incident happened. Now, as per procedure, the victim will have to record her statement before a magistrate. She will also have to provide proof about her stay in the hotel. The case will be investigated as per the old provisions of section 354 IPC, considering the law prevalent during the time that the alleged crime took place. When many questioned the motive of the victim to speak about the episode after decades she said that she had decided to open up, after the demise of her parents who would have been devastated by the allegations against their nephew Jeetendra.
Jeetendra’s lawyer has completely denied the allegations. Calling them ‘baseless, ridiculous and fabricated’, lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee had claimed that the complaint was "nothing but a miserable effort made by a jealous competitor to disrupt the business activities of my client".
