Expo 2020: Golden Signboards Installed on Roads in Dubai Leading to the World’s Greatest Show
Dubai Expo 2020 will commence from 20th October 2020. Signboards have been installed across the emirate leading to the expo site
With Expo 2020 only eight months away, preparations are in full swing to present the world’s greatest show to visitors from all over the globe. Apart from promotions and the construction work, which is being completed on the expo site in the south of Dubai, the latest developments include Expo 2020 signboards, which have been installed on a number of roads in the emirate. These signboards will help road users reach the expo site easily and are golden in colour, representing the logo of Expo 2020, which was inspired by a simple gold ring, found in 2002 at a newly-discovered archaeological site in Dubai called Saruq Al Hadid.
The mega international event -- which will run from 20th October 2020 to 10th April 2021 -- will be hosted in an area spanning 4.38 square kilometers, located in close proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport and easily accessible from Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai and Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals.
A new road leading to the Expo 2020 site was also opened recently by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for improved intersection of Emirates and Expo Roads. This road is part of the sixth phase of RTA’s infrastructure project for the World Expo, which will cost around AED 3 billion in total. RTA Director, Mattar Al Tayer said, “The aim is to ensure a smooth traffic flow for Expo visitors, and serve future projects in the area.” Around 44,000 parking spots will also be available at the site for the convenience of visitors. Celebrating the theme, Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, Expo 2020 is expected to bring in millions of visitors to Dubai to witness human brilliance and achievements. Some of the iconic buildings and structures created on the expo site will also be retained for future events and activities in Dubai.
