Come October and the UAE residents will get to see rib tickling comedy 'The Perfect Wife' with titular role being played by yesteryear Bollywood star Poonam Dhillon. The play will be staged at Jumeirah Beach Hotel on October 11. The Hindi comedy play is about the skirmishes between a husband and wife, who belong to two different cultures of India - husband being from Bihar and wife from Punjab. The satirical play shows how a woman can be both a homemaker as well as a career woman.
Husband is the owner of an advertising agency and is clueless regarding the aspirations of an educated women about balancing work and family. The perfect wife, Poonam Dhillon, has to drive home the point that good looking wife cannot be stereotyped as a homemaker and that women can multi-task when the situation demands.
The star cast of the play include well-known names from the Indian entertainment industry. First is veteran comedy actor Lilliput, real name MM Faruqui, known for his role in 90s comedy TV series Dekh Bhai Dekh. Then we have the multi-talented Suraj Thapar of Razia Sultan and Sasural Genda Phool among many other such TV serials. The mainstay of the play Dhillon gained fame with Bollywood movie 'Noorie' in 1979 and then went on to act in several hit movies including 'Sohni Mahiwal'. The play is being brought to Dubai stage by Publicist Network, which last year gave Dubai its first season of 'Mughal Night' with comedy plays based on Mughal era.
