Emilia Clarke Shut Down Producers for THIS Reason After Game of Thrones
Emilia Clarke revealed she will not work with producers who “won’t respect her boundaries.”
Actor Emilia Clarke became popular on the hit sitcom Game of Thrones (GoT) not only for her stellar acting skills but also the nudity scenes that she starred in as Daenerys Targaryen. The obscene stills prompted other producers to approach Clarke for the same, requesting her to shoot the said scenes for their projects. The starlet has revealed that she was quick to shut them down, adding she will not work with producers who “won’t respect her boundaries.” In an appearance on a recent episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, Clarke added, "I'm a lot savvier with what I'm comfortable with and what I am okay with doing.”
Clarke recalled having fights on set because filmmakers expected more than what she was willing to do on-screen. She said, "I've had fights on set before where I'm like, '’No, the sheet stays up,' and they're like, ''You don't want to disappoint your Game of Thrones’ fans. I feel like I've seen enough now to know what is actually needed." She confessed that she found GoT scenes rather terrifying, adding her former co-star Jason Momoa acted as her mentor during the filming of season one.
"It's only now that I realise how fortunate I was with that, because that could have gone many, many, many different ways. Because Jason had experience, he had done a bunch of stuff before coming on to this, he was like, 'Sweetie, this is how it's meant to be and this is how it's not meant to be and I'm going to make sure that's the way it goes’,” Clarke recalled. "He was so kind and considerate and cared about me as a human being. He took care of me, he really did. In an environment where I didn't know I needed to be taken care of."
Having been involved with GoT for 10 years, Clarke revealed how she felt when she was first offered a nude scene. "I'd come fresh from drama school, and I was like, ‘Approach this as a job'. If it's in the script then it's clearly needed, this is what this is and I'm going to make sense of it.” She concluded, “I had never been on a film set like this before and here I was completely naked with all of these people, and I didn’t know what I was meant to do or what was expected of me.”
