Ehd E Wafa: A Tale of Friendship and Patriotism

In HUM TV’s latest offering, “Ehd E Wafa” promises to give viewers the bromance they didn’t know they needed

For months now, there had been rumors of an Alpha Bravo Charlie reboot, this time sponsored by the DG ISPR (The Directorate of the Inter–Services Public Relation).  With certain names “confirmed,” fans struggled to get verification from any rumored actor/actress supposedly involved with the show, but to no avail.  The actors involved remained tight-lipped regarding a confirmation.

On June 9, 2019, Asif Ghafoor put out a tweet congratulating Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly on their engagement, hinting at a new project, airing in August.  His message read:

“Heartiest congrats Ahad, Sajal & families on the engagement. Stay blessed. Millions of Pakistani viewers and your fans should be ready to see you on screen in a lifetime role for ISPR as Capt Saad during this August, IA.@ahadrazamir @Iamsajalali”

This tweet gave fans confirmation that a project, whether a drama or telefilm, was in the pipeline.  On August 28, 2019, Osman Khalid Butt shared an Instagram picture of himself with Ahad, Wahaj and Ahmed in academy uniform with the caption The SSG” (Special Service Group).

This picture sent Twitter into a frenzy with drama fans seeing the 4 actors together for the first time.  Two days later, on August 30, 2019, HUM TV released 2 official teasers of “Ehd E Wafa,” one running for 38 seconds, the second at 37 seconds long.  The first teaser shows the four boys befriending each other at the academy getting into trouble, having fun and creating lasting bonds.

The show instantly pulls viewers in with its fresh, youthful look.  The show’s teasers are light-hearted, humorous and romantic, but are completely void of the misery Pakistani dramas generally offer these days.  While the first teaser focuses solely on the boys, the second teaser centers around Ahad’s character and his pursuit of Alizeh Shah’s character.  Throughout the second teaser, the boys are seen teasing Ahad, who seems reserved and hesitant to profess his love for her.  Alizeh’s character is fed up of Ahad’s character following her, especially because of his dog.  Ahad’s line “Kutte bano, insaan mat bano” to his dog is already a hit with the fans.

On HUM TV’s Facebook page describes the show as “a story about true friendship and their journey of hardships and hustle, willing to sacrifice for the country.”  The story will focus on four friends who are in the academy together, but their lives will split once they choose separate career paths.  The show stars Osman Khalid Butt, Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali in the lead, along with Alizeh Shah and Zara Noor Abbas.  Faraz Inam, who played Faraz Ahmed in Alpha Bravo Charlie, will be playing a role in Ehd E Wafa as well.  It is rumored that he will be playing Captain Saad’s (Ahad Raza Mir) father, while Vaneeza Ahmed will be playing the role of his mother. Ehd E Wafa is produced by Momina Duraid Productions, Mustafa Afridi has written the show, while Saife Hassan is the director.
