The residents of Dubai's Tecom community, which is a fair mix of residential and commercial buildings, are in for a revamp. Well, not so much in looks but definitely in name. The community which is located to the east of Sheikh Zayed Road, more or less opposite Dubai Media City, has now been officially renamed as Barsha Heights, reported an article in Emirates24X7. While the Tecom group is yet to announce why the name change has been made, here is an advertisement showing the change of name in the affected areas.
While the advert says that Tecom is one of Dubai's best kept secrets, reactions from the residents are sort of mixed as they grapple with the idea of having to explain their new address to taxi drivers and home delivery persons. Check out some of the tweets here:
